UCC Associate Conference Minister Preaches at Christ Reformed

Rev. Sheresa Simpson-Rice, the associate conference minister for the Central Atlantic Conference of the United Church of Christ, visited our church on Sunday, March 6, and preached the first service of the Lenten season.
In her message, she encouraged us to use Lent to become closer to God, and she talked about different ways this could be accomplished. For instance, in churches where she ministered in the past, she would create a tree with words representing traits or practices people could try to give up, such as anger or the need to be in control. She also suggested we could look at the things within ourselves that separate us from God and work during the Lenten season to remove those barriers.
She was complimentary of the church during her visit, saying we are “creating a space for God to come alive.”
Thank you for your visit, Rev. Simpson-Rice, and we hope you’ll come back and see us again!
